One of the most interesting articles last week was by David Linthicum of Infoworld explaining how cloud computing can save us from the Zombie apocalypse. The gist was zombies can?t get into the highly secure facilities. If one center does fail it defaults over to another, protecting your data; and, I love this one, mobile devices like the iPad Mini can be used as ninja throwing stars to decapitate zombies, then cleaned off to access your data. It?s worth reading. The US Department of Homeland Security talked about their efforts to move to the cloud in more places, citing the need to go for an 80% solution rather than owning a 100% top-to-bottom solution in order to save money.

Last week the European Commission said cloud computing could drive additional gross domestic product growth, and also create up to 3.8 million new jobs in the EU. These numbers certainly seem exciting on the surface and will be debated, but regardless, there is no doubt that cloud computing continues to grow in the EU. The article in?
